A memorandum of cooperation was signed regarding the introduction of a Shinkansen system for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad high-speed railway at the Japan-India summit in December 2015.
Based on this memorandum, from February 2017 to January 2020, training was conducted for young staff members of the Ministry of Railways of India and the National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL), the agency responsible for high-speed rail operation between Mumbai and Ahmedabad. The training was conducted under an “all-Japan” stance (a cooperative and collaborative structure of 36 Japanese companies).
Training was conducted over 24 sessions for a total of 877 participants. JIC and the Japan International Cooperation Center (JICE) formed a joint venture to play a central role in the planning and operation of the training program.
