Project Outline

Along with rapid population and economic growth, Ho Chi Minh City, the largest city in Vietnam, has been suffering from air pollution and traffic congestion caused by motorcycles and automobiles, which are the main means of transportation for its citizens. Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Line 1, under construction with yen loans, is the first urban railway project in Ho Chi Minh City and is regarded as the last resort to solve these problems. The total length of the line is 19.7 km, connecting Ben Thanh Station in the center of the City to Suoi Tien Terminal Station in the northeast via a 2.5 km underground section and a 17.2 km viaduct section.

As a member of the joint venturewhose lead manager is Nippon Koei Co., Ltd., and being responsible for supervising construction work, we are in charge of O&M, mainly training the operating staff, preparing manuals and other related work. In July 2020, we started driver training at the Vietnam Railway College as an outsourcing contract of the joint venture. Preparations are underway for the opening of the new metro line
